I am a contemporary artist based in Wanaka New Zealand with my family. My earlier education was around the arts, with particular attention to painting and photography. Later education in 2001 attending the Bachelor of Fine Arts course in Dunedin. A young solo mother at the time with a young child led to a career change into business education and ownership to be able to provide for a growing family.
Many years in business pass and the creative calling was always persistent. I returned to the art world in 2013 and created Workshop 74 a collaborative art space with an art friend, this was the first introduction to start making art again in a creative environment.
My initial works using real animal skulls that evolved into treasured natural sculptures adorned with rhinestones and intricate detailed works. Most of these earlier artworks have been sold exhibiting in local cafes and The Cardona Distillery and have been shipped to many corners of the globe.
My latest collection has taken me on a spiritual journey, exploring the world of ancient symbolism. Using animals, insects and botanicals as the totems of a language for the metaphysical world. I hope that my collection will connect with people in a deep and meaningful way, these images come from a deep search inside my own quest for purpose and meaning while exploring and researching our history. They are guides from my inner universe.
Heart Speak- Worldwide
In 2017 an organization called Heart Speak project reached out and led to several artworks being donated to Heart Speak Worldwide to help raise funds for under privileged youths. A skull piece was sold at the Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Unite Foundation Event.
Art Cell
In December 2017 a rare pop-up exhibition called Art Cell was created with a group of ten Artists. The exhibition was created in the retired local police station prior to its demolition. A few skull artworks and a taxidermy flamingo were part of Tash’s collection for this endeavor.
